It provides a way to manage the pump without the app if needed. It is a little difficult at first to understand it. But, overall, it is perfect for what I use it for.

When working, this is a 5 star addition.I purchased mine with a pump and it did not work. PoolCleaners.com sent a replacement but it did not work indicating the problem was on the pump side.Pentair would not cover labor for a service call because the pump was self installed. I pad $195 for a service call who confirmed the top cover was defective. While the parts were ocvered, the labor was my cost. So if you seld install and receive a defective product, there are not returns and Pentair will make you pay. Because of that, I WILL NOT recommend Pentair products. Pentair failed to provide a working product as advertised and made me pay more to get it operational. AVOID PENTAIR IF YOU SELF INSTALL. PoolCLeanersParts.com tired to help resolve but could not get Pentair to budge form their unreasonable policy. PoolCleanersParts.com get 5 stars, Pentair gets 1 star.
